Dewey & LeBoeuf and Alan Howard Featured On CBS Evening News
On Friday, November 20, the firm and New York Partner Alan Howard appeared on the "CBS Evening News with Katie Couric" in a feature highlighting his representation and ensuing legal guardianship of Jesse Ray "Jody" Beard.
Jody was one of six youths in Jena, Louisiana involved in what was widely viewed as racially charged accusations that received national attention and led to one of the largest civil rights marches in recent history.
Alan represented Jody on a pro bono basis and became his legal guardian, bringing him to the Northeast to live with his family. Jody has also interned at the firm for the past two summers and is currently enrolled in a New England preparatory school.
