Dewey & LeBoeuf Expands its Team in Qatar with Leading Qatar-Based Lawyers as it Prepares to Open its New Doha Office

(Dubai, London, New York, November 11, 2008) - Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP today welcomes Partner William Cattan and Senior Associate Joanna Addison to the firm. Mr. Cattan and Ms. Addison will be integral to Dewey & LeBoeuf's new Doha office, which the firm is in the process of opening.

Mr. Cattan is a US-qualified lawyer whose practice recently has focused on the LNG industry. He has lived in Doha for more than four years, has worked on secondment at Qatar Petroleum's Legal Department, and has handled many complex and high-profile matters for Qatar Petroleum and its affiliates in the energy sector in Qatar. Mr. Cattan also has substantial experience in international project finance, equipment finance and bank finance transactions. He was previously a partner in the Qatar office of Patton Boggs.

Ms. Addison, a UK solicitor, joins as a senior associate from the same firm, and brings more than six years of experience practicing in Qatar. She has substantial experience in the energy sector, having served for three years in the Legal Department of Qatar Petroleum, and then continued to work on high-profile matters for Qatar Petroleum and the government of Qatar. She has also worked for many of the largest companies in Qatar in other sectors of the economy.

Mr. Cattan and Ms. Addison will work closely with Partner Ken Freeling, who is relocating from Washington, DC to lead the development of the firm's practice in Qatar. Mr. Freeling represents a number of prominent Qatari companies, including Qatar Telecom (Qtel) and certain affiliates of United Development Company (UDC). "Will and Joanna are among the finest practitioners in Doha. They are outstanding additions to the firm," said Mr. Freeling.

"Joining Dewey & LeBoeuf is a wonderful opportunity for Joanna and me," said William Cattan. "It allows us to build on the experience we have developed in Qatar, and offer our clients in all sectors of the country's rapidly expanding economy the resources of a first-tier international law firm. We are happy to be a part of the firm's expanding commitment to the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) regions, and to helping launch Dewey & LeBoeuf's new office in Doha."

Until the Doha launch later this year, Mr. Cattan will be based in Dewey & LeBoeuf's New York office, while Ms. Addison will be based in the firm's London office.

"These are important hires for our firm, and for our Middle East and North Africa ambitions. Both Will and Joanna are well-known and respected in the Qatar legal market. We're blending top-level hires with strategic relocation of home-grown talent in these key regions," said firm Chairman, Steven H. Davis. "I extend a warm welcome to Will and Joanna on behalf of the entire firm. Our clients, who operate in the region, will benefit greatly from our 'on-the-ground' presence in the MENA region's key commercial locations."
