Pro Bono

Pro Bono
We negotiated the release of 26 immigrant children who were being detained at a former medium-security prison in Texas while their parents were awaiting decisions on asylum applications. Pictured here are two of our clients as they were being released.

Dewey & LeBoeuf has a long-standing commitment to pro bono service because we believe that we have a professional and moral obligation to serve those who cannot afford legal representation. That's why Dewey & LeBoeuf imposes no limit upon the number of creditable pro bono hours that our lawyers may contribute, provided they have an appropriate balance of fee-earning work. Last year, our lawyers and staff devoted nearly 130,000 hours of work to pro bono projects around the world.

Our areas of pro bono practice include:

  • Housing
  • Civil rights
  • Education
  • Criminal trials and appeals
  • Entertainment and the arts
  • Family law and domestic violence
  • Immigration and asylum
  • Not-for-profit and small business advice
  • Voting rights
  • Animal rights
