Although the hazards associated with polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) in electrical equipment (such as transformers and capacitors) are widely known, significantly less attention has been given to hazards arising from the historical use of PCBs in caulk and other building materials. The presence of PCBs in these materials is becoming an increasingly serious concern for building owners/operators, lenders and other parties to real estate and business transactions.
