Paul P. Chen
Partner
Paul Chen is a partner in the firm's Mergers and Acquisitions Practice Group and Asia Practice Group. He represents strategic and private equity buyers and sellers in mergers, acquisitions and divestitures with a particular focus on cross-border transactions. Paul has worked on engagements in a broad range of industries including technology, e-commerce, aerospace, energy and insurance. Paul managed the firm's Hong Kong office for several years and is a frequent author and speaker on Asia M&A related issues. Prior to Dewey & LeBoeuf, Paul was a management consultant at McKinsey & Company and was head of strategy and business development at an Asia technology company.

- Idapted, a Chinese online education company, in a merger with US-based Eleutian Technology;

- Fosun International, the largest private conglomerate in China, on its proposed multi-billion dollar investment in AIA in Hong Kong and several proposed transactions in Europe;
- Blackstone in its sale of Healthmarkets to CIGNA and UnitedHealth Group;
- Aegon in its acquisition of Merrill Lynch's variable annuity and life insurance business;
- JPMorgan Chase in its sale of Chase Insurance Group to Protective Life; and
- Union Central Life Insurance Company in a mutual holding company merger with Ameritas Acacia Mutual Holding Company.
