John D. Draghi

Senior Counsel

John Draghi's litigation practice has focused principally on the representation of public utilities, and has involved power plant construction, antitrust claims, and the transmission of power. Mr. Draghi has represented clients in court proceedings, arbitrations, and mediations. He also has an active regulatory practice, with matters ranging from a major prudence proceeding to transmission and generation licensing proceedings. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Draghi was chairman of the executive committee at Huber Lawrence & Abell and the head of the firm's litigation department.

Representative Matters

  • Lead counsel on the licensing of various 345kV and 115kV transmission lines before the New York State Public Service Commission
  • Licensed four hydroelectric projects before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission
  • Lead counsel to the sole owner of a nuclear plant on matters related to the sale of that plant
  • Lead counsel to the co-owner of a nuclear power plant on matters related to the sale of that plant
  • Counsel to New York State utilities in various Article 78 proceedings challenging orders of the Public Service Commission
  • Counsel to an electric utility in opposition to attempts to create class actions from consumer billing complaints
