Elias G. Farrah

Mr. Farrah represents electric utilities and natural gas companies. His work in these areas includes regulatory and transactional issues, and he regularly represents his clients before state and federal agencies and courts. Mr. Farrah spent five years in the Office of General Counsel at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, where he held various trial and supervisory positions, including acting assistant general counsel for NGPA matters and assistant deputy general counsel in charge of litigation.

Mr. Farrah joined the firm in 1982 and has been a partner since 1988. His practice is nationwide in scope and includes representation of all segments of the gas and electric industries with respect to a broad range of regulatory and other legal issues. Mr. Farrah has acted as outside general counsel to an interstate gas-pipeline company; group counsel for a consortium of local gas-distribution companies; and group counsel to a consortium of electric generation companies. In addition, Mr. Farrah represented all of the transmission owners in the state of New York with respect to the creation of the NYISO and continues to represent them before the FERC with regard to all NYISO-related matters. Mr. Farrah also represents other transmission owners; generators with respect to ISO matters including transmission; energy- and capacity- pricing issues in various other ISO regions around the country. Finally, Mr. Farrah represents clients, including financial institutions and other investors, on transactions related to the acquisition or development of energy projects. Mr. Farrah is a frequent panelist and lecturer at conferences and seminars and also authors articles on energy topics.
