J. Porter Wiseman
Associate
Ms. Wiseman’s practice focuses on regulation and competition issues, particularly in technology-based industries. Her Energy Regulation practice includes the representation of electric utilities and other energy clients in proceedings before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, including administrative litigation, merger proceedings, rate proceedings, and other wholesale rate and tariff filings. Ms. Wiseman also has experience with issues related to natural gas pipeline safety, including drafting a safety manual for a natural gas storage operator, and has performed due diligence related to the sale of generation facilities, including nuclear and hydropower stations. Ms. Wiseman has also represented a major oil company in a securities class action litigation.
Ms. Wiseman also represents clients on antitrust and telecommunications matters before the courts and such administrative agencies as the Federal Communications Commission, including a major international telecommunications litigation involving allegations of anticompetitive behavior. She has researched and analyzed antitrust and competition issues involving transactions and conduct in various industries, including next-generation wireless broadband, cable television and programming, cross-ownership in cellular service in a developing nation, and beverages. In addition to her work on regulation and competition issues, Ms. Wiseman has also assisted Dewey & LeBoeuf’s International Arbitration practice on a variety of matters involving international law.
Ms. Wiseman has represented clients pro bono in the fields of immigration, international human rights, and voting rights.
