Dewey & LeBoeuf has a long-standing commitment to pro bono service because we believe that we have a professional and moral obligation to serve those who cannot afford legal representation. Last year, our lawyers and staff devoted nearly 130,000 hours of work to pro bono projects around the world. This is the largest amount in our firm's history.
We seek to set the law firm standard in providing pro bono legal services. Dewey & LeBoeuf imposes no limit upon the pro bono hours that our lawyers may contribute, and associates receive full billable credit for hours spent on pro bono matters, provided they have an appropriate balance of fee-earning work.
Our lawyers are engaged in a diverse array of pro bono projects globally. We take on large-impact civil rights litigation to advocate for those who have been historically disadvantaged. We help victims of domestic violence re-establish their footing. Our lawyers prevent the eviction of low-income tenants. Around the world, our firm provides not-for-profit organizations and microenterprises with the legal services needed to open, stay afloat and thrive. We represent indigent defendants in criminal cases at trial and on appeal. Our firm helps prevent the deportation of asylum seekers facing persecution if they are forced to return to their native lands. And more.
