Dubai International Finance Centre (DIFC) Courts open their doors to litigants outside the DIFC
It was announced on 31 October 2011 that the Dubai International Finance Centre (DIFC) Courts are now finally open to all parties outside the DIFC jurisdiction, provided that there is an agreement between the parties to refer their disputes to the DIFC Courts. The announcement came following the signing of "Law No. 16 of 2011 On Amending Some Provisions of Law No. 12 of 2004 Concerning The Dubai International Finance Centre Courts" by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. It also coincided with the start of the International Bar Association's annual conference, which took place in Dubai this year.
