US Ethanol Exporters Face Potential European Trade Case

Europe's largest ethanol industry trade association, ePure, announced this month that on October 12, it filed a petition with the European Commission (EC) alleging that US shipments of ethanol to Europe are unfairly subsidized and "dumped" at unfairly low prices. ePure has requested that the EC investigate these alleged practices, which could lead to EU duties on those shipments. While the petition is currently confidential, several news sources have cited European diplomats as indicating that the EC is likely to initiate a proceeding this week.
