Centocor Ortho Biotech, Inc. v. Abbott Labs.

On February 23, 2011, the Federal Circuit reversed the district court’s denial of Abbott’s motion for judgment as a matter of law notwithstanding the jury verdict that Abbott’s Humira® product infringed U.S. Patent No. 7,070,775, which related to antibodies to human tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α) used to treat rheumatoid arthritis, and the jury’s $1.67 billion damages award.
