Margaret Keane chairs the firm's Employment Litigation practice. Ms. Keane is a litigation partner with nationwide experience. Ms. Keane has defended numerous class action and multiparty proceedings alleging violation of state and federal civil rights and anti-discrimination laws, as well as ERISA, section 301, and wage and hour claims. Her practice extends to all aspects of employment discrimination: race, gender and age discrimination; affirmative action; employee selection, including testing class actions; ERISA claims in various contexts, including retiree benefit issues; wage and hour claims; employee privacy issues; Internet abuse; theft of trade secrets; non-compete agreements and other related issues. Ms. Keane counsels clients on preventive law issues and designs, and conducts training seminars. Her counseling experience extends to a wide variety of matters, including advice on compliance with the security provisions of the Graham-Leach-Bliley Act and its employee training issues, compliance with the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, as well as workplace privacy issues, computer use policies, email and record retention issues. She has spoken on current privacy issues in various forums, including the Practicing Law Institute and the Pennsylvania Bar Institute.
Ms. Keane has substantial experience in achieving client objectives through alternative dispute resolution, particularly in the area of multiparty and class employment discrimination.
Ms. Keane started her legal career in the firm's New York office in 1986 and relocated to Pittsburgh in 1996. From 2003 to 2006, she was Co-Managing Partner of the Pittsburgh Office, where she was responsible for managing a substantial fixed fee litigation retainer for a Fortune 100 client.
